Middleton put pen to paper on a three-year, entry-level contract with San Jose on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Middleton logged 50 contests for AHL San Jose last year in which he tallied one goal, eight helpers and 56 PIM. The blueliner was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft, but decided not to sign with them after his OHL career ended. The 21-year-old has yet to transition the offensive side of his game -- 31 points in 68 during his final year with the 67's -- into the professional ranks, but apparently the Sharks saw enough to give him a shot.
