Michael Leighton has agreed to a one-year deal with Donbass Donetsk of the KHL. Columbus acquired him, along with a third-round pick, from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for goaltender Steve Mason in April. There wasn't any room for him on the Blue Jackets with Sergei Bobrovsky and Curtis McElhinney on the roster, but Donbass created a spot for him by releasing Chris Holt.
