Byram (head) may not play Saturday at Ottawa after the Avalanche recalled Jacob MacDonald from AHL Colorado on Friday, Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

MacDonald, who served as a hybrid defenseman/forward during his previous stint with the Avs this season, will join the team in Ottawa. Dater believes the callup is an obvious sign that Byram will not be in the lineup Saturday. MacDonald and Kurtis MacDermid, another hybrid player, are expected to see time against the Senators. Byram was held out of Thursday's win over the Canadiens with what head coach Jared Bednar referred to as a "head-related" injury. Byram has sustained multiple concussions during his short NHL career.
