Matt Halischuk scored Winnipeg's only goal in a pre-season loss to Ottawa Sunday night. He tallied a unassisted goal on a breakaway during the second period. Halischuk signed with the Jets in July after Nashville decided to not given him a qualifying offer. He's trying to earn a spot on one of Winnipeg's bottom-two lines.
