Mason will tend the twine for Thursday's matchup with the Islanders, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sitting six points back of the second wild-card position in the Eastern Conference with six games remaining in the regular season, the Flyers face a daunting path to playoff qualification. After going through periods of the season when he appeared to be the No. 2 goaltender to Michal Neuvirth, Mason has played his way into being Philly's undisputed starter for the stretch run. While starting 13 of the team's last 15 games, Mason is 8-4-1 with a 2.10 GAA and .926 save percentage, both marks are improvements upon his season numbers of 2.70 GAA and .907 save percentage. Mason has been a streaky goalie since he entered the NHL in 2008-09, so it's certainly possible that he stays hot Thursday.
