Mason will cover the home net Thursday for a contest against the Panthers, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mason returned from a six-game hiatus to pitch a shutout against the league's worst team in the Avalanche on Tuesday, but the veteran could be feeling a bit dejected after the Flyers opted to reward alternate goalie Michal Neuvirth with a two-year contract extension Wednesday. Of course, Mason will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, so there's still plenty of incentive for him to give it his all each game. Looking ahead to his next opponent, the Panthers only rank 15th in the league in road scoring at 2.58 goals per contest, though they should be a bit punchier in the attacking zone with Thomas Vanek acquired from Detroit in Wednesday's trade.
