Mason was bombarded with 53 shots through regulation and overtime Tuesday in Columbus, and he stopped 51 of those -- plus four of five in the shootout -- but was stuck with the loss.
EDGE Analysis
On the one hand, that's about as Herculean a goalie performance as you can ask for in a loss. On the other, the Flyers -- who are desperately clawing for a wild-card berth -- had a 2-0 lead with just over a minute left in this game, only to see Mason give up two late goals to send it to overtime. To be fair, it's hard to fault Mason on either goal, especially the first one, which happened when a horrendously dysfunctional Flyers power-play unit allowed the shorthanded Jackets to control the puck in their zone until Boone Jenner ultimately deflected a puck in.
