Mason got back in the blue paint Thursday after a three-game layoff and delivered a 36-save shutout against the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Even with how bad he's been this year, Mason now has a pair of shutouts over his last five starts, though they've been spread over nearly three weeks and he had a couple rough ones in that interim. Indeed, Michael Neuvirth had started the Flyers' last three games after relieving Mason in his Dec. 8 outing. The nominal backup, Neuvirth's been making the No. 1 man look pretty bad this year, posting far better stats while drawing a surprisingly big share of the starts. This much-needed dominant effort should help Mason retain at least a temporary hold on the No. 1 role, though.
