Markstrom re-signed Monday with the Canucks on a two-year, $1.55 million contract. As was intimated by the trade of Eddie Lack to the Hurricanes over the weekend, Markstrom will be locked in as the Canucks' backup goalie behind Ryan Miller to start the season. The 25-year-old faltered in his three appearances with the Canucks last season, posting a 3.08 GAA and .879 save percentage, but he was among the top goalies in the minor-league ranks. He submitted a 22-7-2 record, 1.88 GAA, and .934 save percentage over 32 games for AHL Utica.
