Given that timetable, Markstrom's next chance to join the Canucks' lineup would come on Oct. 30 against the Canucks. That's a best case scenario, however, and it's much more likely that the 25-year-old netminder will start in a few contests with AHL Utica before returning to Vancouver as Ryan Miller's backup. Richard Bachman will serve as Miller's backup in Markstrom's absence.
