Marc Staal (eye) took some shifts with Dan Girardi during practice Tuesday but coach John Tortorella had no update on his status for the playoffs. The Rangers open their playoffs Thursday night against the Cpitals and it's highly unlikely Staal will be in the lineup during the early part of that series. Staal said he hasn't "written off" playing in the opening round, but he'll likely remain sidelined until his blurry vision subsides. Tortorella also had no update on Ryane Clowe (undisclosed) and Brian Boyle (lower body), both of whom are unlikely to play Thursday night.
