Malkin has reportedly made some progress recently, but the team has every reason to take things slow with their star forward to avoid any further damage. He hasn't officially been ruled out for the evening's contest against the Flyers at this point, but his absence certainly trends his status in the wrong direction. Should he miss the tilt, his next chance to play would arrive Wednesday against the Blackhawks. The club has shuffled the lines slightly in Malkin's absence promoting Nick Bonino to a more prominent role centering the team's second line.
