Matthews (wrist) practiced for the first time since Toronto's training camp opened Tuesday, Jonas Siegel of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews, who's recovering from wrist surgery, almost certainly won't play in any of the Maple Leafs' preseason contests, but he appears to be on track to be available for Toronto's Opening Night game versus Montreal on Oct. 13. The 24-year-old center led the league in goals last season with 41 in just 52 contests and could realistically surpass the 50-goal threshold in 2020-21 if he's able to stay healthy.
