Andersen signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andersen struggled last season, going 13-8-3 while posting a sub-par 2.96 GAA and .895 save percentage in 24 appearances with the Maple Leafs, but it's suspected that he was playing through injury for much of the campaign, so the Hurricanes are clearly hoping he'll be able to remain healthy and return to form behind their strong defense in 2021-22. Carolina also signed Antti Raanta on Wednesday, but Andersen should enter the year as the team's No. 1 netminder.
