LaBarbera stopped 33 of 36 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders. LaBarbera was in tough from the get-go in this one, due to a last-minute starting nod coupled with the absence of stars Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf (both had the flu). The journeyman performed well and allowed the Ducks to grab a point, but his role going forward remains largely that of a third-stringer as the team is expected to make a move for another netminder with John Gibson (groin) recently being ruled out for six weeks.
