Kyle Turris was more than happy to commit to a long-term contract with the Ottawa Senators after they took him away from a troubling situation in Phoenix. Coyotes GM Don Maloney didn't want to give big money to an unproven player and he was hesitant to trade him for a while before finally pulling the trigger on a deal with Ottawa last December. Turris wanted the opportunity to play a larger role and he got that with the Senators as the team's second-line center. "(The trade) was huge. It was a really big breath of fresh air, a fresh start," he said. "I can't thank Ottawa enough for the opportunity and trust they had in me." The move helped him produce 12 goals and 29 points in 49 games and he should improve on those numbers this season.
