Koivu recorded a pair of assists in Monday's 4-1 road win over the Panthers. Four of Koivu's seven points on the season have quietly come in the last four games, a span in which he's skated to a plus-three rating and taken 11 shots on goal. It's important to note that Minnesota's "No. 1" center in Mikael Granlund hasn't been much better, posting a pedestrian nine points in 20 games, so there's a lot of room for improvement for Koivu and Granlund as the second quarter of the season kicks off -- especially once Thomas Vanek starts scoring.
