An illness sidelined the Islanders' starting goalie Evgeni Nabokov for Saturday night's contest with the Hurricanes. In relief Kevin Poulin was able to stifle the Hurricanes' offence, as the Islanders took control of the lead in the third period. Although the Islanders' crease is undoubtedly crowded, the internal competition could prove beneficial for the organization.
