Justin Abdelkader and the Red Wings continue to work on a new contract. The restricted free agent is coming off a two-year, $1.575 million contract, but it's expected that the new deal's cap hit will be closer to the $1.5 million mark. The forward had eight goals and 14 assists last season. Once general manager Ken Holland gets Abdelkader signed, the Wings aren't expected to add anything else to their forward group. "We think we've got as many as 16 forwards fighting for 14 jobs," Holland says.
