Johnson (lower body) will be out short term, according to Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy, with Marc Moser of Altitude TV adding that Johnson could miss 12 days.

Johnson only logged 11:26 of ice time Monday, before sustaining the injury. While the defenseman's timetable for a return is quite nebulous at this point in time, it would come as a surprise if he's not reevaluated ahead of the upcoming contests. Looking ahead at Colorado's schedule, the Avs have home games Wednesday (STL) and Friday (NAS), and then travel to Chicago for a date with the Blackhawks on Jan. 10.
