Johan Hedberg, playing in place of future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur for the first time since Feb. 9, stopped 23 Washington Capital shots for his third shutout of the season Friday night. It was Hedberg's first victory since Feb. 4. Hedberg had to make a couple of athletic saves early but the suprisingly lacklustre Caps, who had won three in a row coming into the game, hardly challenged him the rest of the game.
