Johan Hedberg has been released from his professional tryout offer. Hedberg had been brought in to compete for the backup job against Martin Biron, but it looks like Biron cemented his place with a strong showing in Tuesday's preseason games. It's not clear what Hedberg's next move will be, but this might be the end of his playing career. Before Hedberg accepted a tryout with the Rangers, the New Jersey Devils offered to keep him on board in a non-playing role and it wouldn't be surprising to see him follow through on.
