Joey MacDonald's new two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings is a two-way deal. That's not surprising and it'll make it easier for Detroit to have MacDonald start the season in the AHL. Although MacDonald is currently number two on Detroit's goaltending depth charts, Detroit plans to sign someone else to serve as their backup goaltender. MacDonald will earn $105,000 if he plays in the minors and he has a $550,000 cap hit in the NHL.
