Joe Thornton will play in his 1,000th regular season NHL game on Friday. It's quite an accomplishment for the former first overall selection in the 1997 Draft. 'If you asked me my first year would I ever get to 1,000 games, I would have thought just getting to 100 would be a miracle," Thornton, who had only seven points in his first year, said. "You look back and see how fast it goes. I remember the older guys saying cherish every day because it goes by so fast - and really, it flies right by."
