Jimmy Hayes was given a major for boarding and a game misconduct for a hit from behind to Michal Rozsival at 8:47 of the third period. With his team trailing by a pair (2-0) and the season on the line with Chicago trailing in the series 3-2, Hayes' hit was ill timed to say the least. Rozival lay bleeding on the ice for couple of minutes before beinig escorted to the room.
