Jimmy Hayes is believed to be the frontrunner to line up on Chicago's third line to start the season. The Blackhawks want that spot to be occupied by a player who can play physical, be responsible at both ends and can still produce. Hayes tallied 45 points in 67 AHL games last season. He accounted for three goals and two assists in four scrimmages and he's enjoyed a strong camp. "Jimmy Hayes had a real good week," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He was one player that really stepped up and showed us that he wants to make our hockey team. He worked at a different level in the offseason, he prepared himself to be in much better shape, and you can notice his quickness and his drive out there."
