Jim O'Brien was placed on waivers Thursday. The move isn't a surprise as he was believed to be an odd-man out among a crowded group at center. The Senators also placed goaltender Nathan Lawson, forward Corey Cowick and defenseman Tyler Eckford on waivers with the intention of assigning them to the minors.
