Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 33 saves in the Avalanche's 1-0 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils Thursday night. The former Conn Smythe Trophy winner started the season as a veteran backup, capable of filling in as a starter for a short period of time for Semyon Varlamov but tonight was his 31st game of the season. The Avalanche have been splitting the netminding duties between Giguere and Varlamov this season. Giguere battled through injuries and struggled between the pipes during his tenure with the Leafs, but he's found the fountain of youth in his first season with the Avalanche. Giguere has been a superb "backup" so far this season and gives the Avalanche much-added stability and veteran experience in both the regular season and playoffs. He should be owned in 14-team leagues.
