Jean-Sebastien Giguere is the only active player to have ever worn a Hartford Whalers' jersey. Giguere played eight games with the Whalers in 1996-97 after being selected by them in the first round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. The Whalers moved to Carolina the following season, but Giguere was traded to Calgary. "My first team. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but it'll always be special to me, the team and the organization," said Giguere. "It was too bad the team had to move, because they had a lot of great fans, but those things happen sometimes." Now 35, Giguere is serving as Semyon Varlamov's understudy.
