Jaromir Jagr understands where Roman Hamrlik was coming from when he made his controversial lockout comments last month. "On one hand, I do understand the younger guys, but I understand the older guys, too," Jagr told Pavel Barta of the Czech Daily Sport. "You've got to put yourself in each of their shoes. Roman Hamrl¡k hasn't got too many years left, and he would really love to play some more in the NHL. So, whatever he says, I agree with him. On the other hand, I agree with the opinions of others, those who are younger and the lockout hasn't got that much of an impact on them. They are playing in Russia, make more money, perhaps, than they would in the NHL, they are at home. So I understand when they say let's go on." Jagr has experienced all three NHL lockouts, including the 1991-92 strike, over his career and he doesn't have many years left either. He wants the NHL and NHLPA to reach a deal "somehow" so that he can return to North America. Jagr's Dallas debut has been out on hold because of the work stoppage, but he has been great in the Czech Extraliga with 43 points
