Jake Gardiner was awarded a slot on the NHL's All-Rookie team on Wednesday night. The smooth-skating defender led all first-year blueliners in scoring with 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) in 75 games. He also finished third among all rookies in average ice time at 21:35 per contest. Gardiner has the potential to develop into an excellent offensive defensman at the NHL level.
