Jacob Markstrom might stay with the Panthers even after Scott Clemmensen returns from a conditioning stint on Monday. Markstrom started the season with the Panthers because Clemmensen suffered a knee injury. Clemmensen will be ready to return soon, but Markstrom might have stolen his job by posting a 2.05 GAA and .944 save percentage in five games. Florida might temporarily carry three goaltenders, but that isn't likely to last long. Markstrom is young and needs to play, so a three-goaltender setup probably wouldn't be in his best interests. The Panthers might be able to solve the longjam by making a trade and we wouldn't rule out the possibility that Florida might simply send Clemmensen or Markstrom to the minors.
