Ilya Kovalchuk was selected as the KHL's top player for the month of October. Kovalchuk has nine goals and 26 points in 16 games with St. Petersburg. He also played in Russia during the 2004-05 lockout and ended up with 19 goals and 41 points in 53 games during that campaign.
