Hornqvist was able to clinch the Penguins' fifth Stanley Cup championship while playing with a broken finger, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
In a twist of fate, Hornqvist sealed Pittsburgh's back-to-back title in the city he was drafted by back in 2005. The winger has been a pivotal member of both recent titles for the Pens. Even without the no-movement clause, it would be hard to imagine general manager Jim Rutherford not protecting the 30-year-old from being taken in the Vegas expansion draft. Barring the need for extensive surgery, there is little reason not to expect Hornqvist to be 100 percent heading into the 2017-18 campaign as the team goes for the three-peat.
