His offensive production has steadily declined over the years, and he was limited to 33 games last season with various injuries getting in the way. Higgins wears that leadership hat just as well off the ice as he does on it, and it doesn't bode well for the 12-year veteran that he went unclaimed after getting placed on unconditional waivers.
