Hamonic is unlikely to be traded before the deadline, reports Arthur Staple of Newsday.
EDGE Analysis
Hamonic requested a trade from the Islanders to a western Canadian team before the season started for personal reasons. General manager Garth Snow has just not been able to find the best match for the team. The biggest problem is that Hamonic has a contract that counts only $3.857 against the cap and is signed for the next four years and Snow just can't find an equal defenseman with that kind of value. This is not to say a trade can't happen, but it may be an easier deal to make once the season has concluded.
