Goaltender Joey MacDonald has been doing a first-rate job in the Detroit Red Wings' net while filling in for all-star Jimmy Howard (broken finger).
He allowed only one goal -- to George Parros, his first goal of the season -- in the Red Wings' 2-1 shootout victory over the visiting Anaheim Ducks Friday night. It was the Wings' 19th consecutive home victory, one shy of the NHL record. Babcock praised Joey MacDonald , the journeyman goalie who turned 32 on Wednesday. "He (MacDonald) is a good competitor who's found a way to survive and play pro hockey, and make a living on it," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "We've got to give him some run support. We've got to play well in front of him, so all he's got to do is worry about one shot and not worry about rebounds. When you look at him, I don't see a skill set through the roof."
