Murray allowed two goals on 24 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
The Senators tilted the ice away from Murray in his season debut, out-shooting the Sharks 31-24 and giving him a 1-0 lead to protect, but San Jose got a pair of pucks past Murray in the second period and held on in the third. Murray's still the go-to guy in Ottawa's net, but it's worth noting that Anton Forsberg posted an impressive .935 save percentage in two starts while Murray was sidelined by an illness, and goalie of the future Filip Gustavsson won a sport start as well. Should Murray falter like he did last season (3.38 GAA, .893 save percentage), he could get leapfrogged in the goalie pecking order for a Senators team that's hoping to be significantly more competitive in 2021-22.
