Gibson was forced into Monday night's contest against the Islanders, replacing a struggling Frederik Andersen before turning aside 18 of 19 shots in the eventual 5-2 loss.

The Ducks elected to roll Andersen between the pipes after close to a month-long layoff, but clearly he wasn't ready based on three goals coughed up on 11 shots. As for Gibson, he was able to trim his league-best GAA to 1.87. Wins have been hard to come by for the Ducks, who are dead last in the Western Conference with a 12-15-5 record, and second to last with a minus-22 goal differential.
