Gaudreau was quiet in his return from a two-game injury absence Thursday, taking two shots on goal in a 3-0 shutout loss to the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
He skated 18:14, but they weren't particularly impactful minutes, especially coming from one of the NHL's leading point producers. Gaudreau has been everything the Flames could possibly want from him in his sophomore year -- an offensive dynamo who racks up power-play points and is surprisingly adept at keeping the puck out of his own goal at even strength. That he holds a positive rating for a Flames team in possession of a minus-38 goal differential pretty much tells the whole story. If this team can get a reliable goalie and do a better job of surrounding Gaudreau with complementary talent, it's not unreasonable to imagine him one day winning an Art Ross Trophy.
