Galchenyuk suffered a broken right pinky finger Mar. 3 and played the rest of the season with it, the Montreal Gazette reports. Despite the finger injury, Galchenyuk thrived, scoring 17 points (11 goals, six assists) in the final 17 games on his way to a career-high 56 points.
EDGE Analysis
It took forever for head coach Michel Therrien to find the right combination, moving Galchenyuk from center to wing and back to center again, but putting him with Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher unlocked the talented 22-year-old, who tied for the team high with 30 goals while averaging only 16:15 of ice time per game. There needs to be changes next season, particularly on offense, but the Habs will likely keep Galchenyuk at center with the same linemates.
