Fraser signed a professional tryout contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Stephen Whyno of The Canadian Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fraser previously skated with the Maple Leafs for 64 games in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, but he'd do well just to crack the Opening Night roster this time around. The 28-year-old ended up making 34 appearances with the Devils last season when injuries decimated their blue line, but he provided little in the way of production, failing to score a goal and contributing a mere four assists. Fraser will likely just be a depth body in training camp, though he could secure a spot as the club's seventh defenseman if the Maple Leafs prefer to give some of their younger candidates more development time at AHL Toronto.
