For the second year in a row, Mike Weber has begun the season as Buffalo's extra defenseman. "I don't really have too much of a choice," he said. "I'm just trying to stay ready. It's another chance to watch some games and see what we're doing right and wrong. Then I'll be doing more of the right stuff." He became a fixture on the back end in 2010-11 due to the injuries and struggles of some of his teammates, but it will be harder for him to get back in this time around. The Sabres added Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff in the off-season and Weber was beat out by Marc-Andre Gragnani for the final spot following training camp. For now, he will have to wait again for another opportunity.
