Hurricanes executive vice president and general manager Ron Francis reportedly took note of Foegele at the rookies' camp in September. The 20-year-old center split his 2016-17 campaign between the Kingston Frontenacs and Erie Otters of the OHL, combining for 27 goals, 36 assists, and 40 PIM over 61 games.
