Ference (upper body) is unlikely to play Wednesday against the Avalanche, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports. Ference missed Tuesday's practice after suffering an upper-body injury in Monday's loss to the Jets. Coach Todd Nelson didn't seem confident that Ference would notice enough recovery in the next several hours to be an option for Wednesday's game, and with the Oilers once again out of playoff contention, there's no real incentive for the team to play the blueliner at less than 100 percent. The team will wait and see if Ference can get closer to full health in advance of Friday's game against the Stars.
