Duke was drafted 126th overall by the Lightning at the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Rumored to be in the mix as early as Round 2, Duke's plunge to the final picks of Round 4 is easily one of the draft's biggest surprises. Duke's calling card is his ability to create havoc in the offensive zone. He plants himself on top of the opposing crease with regularity and his playmaking skills have long been underrated. The question regarding Duke is whether those skills will translate to the professional level. He's not very big (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) and there doesn't appear to be a ton of room for growth in terms of his frame. The hope for Tampa Bay is that Duke's quick hands combined with his work ethic and multiple years at the University of Michigan will allow him to learn how to play to his strengths and turn into a productive long-term player.
