Toews was added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list Tuesday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Toews is reportedly symptomatic, so he'll be out until Dec. 27 versus Vegas at a minimum. This is a big blow for the Avalanche and fantasy managers alike, as Toews has been highly productive from an offensive standpoint this season, having racked up four goals and 20 points through 16 contests. Colorado will likely have to recall a player from the AHL to fill in on the back end until Bowen Byram (head), Jacob MacDonald (undisclosed) or Ryan Murray (lower body) is ready to return.
