Eichel scored twice Tuesday -- once on the power play to tie the game, then at even strength for the game-winner -- in a 3-2 win over Ottawa.
EDGE Analysis
The latter goal was credited to Eichel unassisted, which seems like kind of a raw deal for his linemates after Craig Anderson bobbled a Zemgus Girgensons shot and Eichel tapped it into the net. Nonetheless, Eichel's suddenly started clipping along at a much faster pace on the run-up to the All-Star break; he has seven points in his last five games and 20 in his last 18, a pace more reminiscent of the young superstar we thought we'd get from Day 1. Hey, even the best of 'em need an adjustment period, and Eichel's quite likely to rank among the NHL's top players in the coming years.
