Dumont was assigned to AHL Syracuse on Saturday, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dumont played extensively in Montreal's minor-league system after the Habs called his name in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He showed promise en route to 19 goals and 30 helpers in 71 games with AHL St. John's last year, so this looks like a matter of his new club easing him into new territory. We can see Dumont being a popular call-up option when injuries strike the parent club.
