Newhook slid back to the third line with the return of Nathan MacKinnon. He had skated on the second line with Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky as part of the lineup juggle while MacKinnon was on the mend. The 21-year-old Newfoundlander has just six points over the last 21 contests, but the prospect appears to be in the NHL to stay after being demoted to the AHL for a stretch following the Avalanche's opening night win Oct. 13.
